Job Summary:
This position will be traveling from shop to jobsite throughout California and possible other states. The traveling CWI must be familiar with welding processes, welding procedures, welder qualifications, materials, and weld testing limitations, as well as how to read blueprint drawings, prepare and keep records, prepare and make reports, and make responsible judgments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Reports all findings to the President.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Determine if a weldment meets the acceptance criteria of a specific code, standard, or other specification.
- Handle qualification records.
- Oversee non-destructive testing.
- Ensure proper materials are available during testing.
- Use stress equipment to put stress on weld joints.
- Check weld machine setup and the welding techniques of welders on work in progress to ensure the quality of the work.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds, weld preparations, and weldments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Review and interpret welding drawings, specifications, and welding procedures to ensure proper application of welding codes and standards.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production operations and machinery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to complete reports and logs.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent Required.
- CWI Certification - Required.
- Prior exceptional work experience with the company preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse the production facility.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Pass a physical upon hire.
This position is in based in Hemet, California and will coordinate with our offices in Southern, Northern California and potentially travel to out of state projects when demanded. This is not a remote position. The working hours are Monday-Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm (4 / 10-hour shifts).
